Bear Creek Park, near U.S. 285 and Raleigh St., Denver, Colorado
Formerly just a suggestively shaped sombrero for children to climb up and slide and slide down, the sleeping giant cowboy (complete with two knees and one boot) emerged in its wake as part of a park makeover completed in 2009. The place also got panels telling the story of the big fella's rambles and subsequent nap on the creek, and a number of colorful new features and playthings.
